About

Anthropology is a discipline that studies Human society, Human lives, Human behaviors, and other traits pertaining to either individuals or groups. Essentially, no anthropologists provide critical information regarding the lives of humans in different contexts globally. This information ranges from historical contexts to current information that is essential to drive key human decisions that influence everybody’s current lives. In this regard, effective study of anthropology is critical in determining the nature of human challenges as far as procedural solutions are concerned. An anthropologist studies individual behaviors and conceptual framework of human beings which are considered essential in determining the best solutions for enhancing human lifestyles in the long run. Besides, it helps in solving current problems facing humans such as climate change and ethnic violence through a concrete understanding of the society. First, anthropology is essential in understanding human behaviors that cause a negative influence on water supplies towards resolving water scarcity problems in the global society. Water is a basic human commodity in the society. In addition, virtually, every part of human daily lives utilizes water such as industries, domestic, recreation, agriculture, and other uses. However, water has become a rare commodity hence, a major global problem facing humanity. In many parts of the world, the supply of water is not adequate to meet the demands of urban, industrial, agricultural, and environmental use. The key determinant of any water level of a region or satisfaction thereof relies on the balance between precipitation and evaporation rates in the region. For instance, in many areas where the potential precipitation is above the rates of evaporation, the minimal run-off present for interception and preservation results in critical reliance on the timing of rainfall. Normally, those regions that experience high incidences of water scarcity are normally located in the global Savannah Zone covering extensive parts of Africa, the South East, COMA Asia, COMA, and the Middle South of America. For instance, most countries found within the Savannah zones have high rates of population growth in addition to sufficient wealth to enable the importation of food for their inhabitants. Besides, such countries also suffer unsubstantial support from other countries hence, increasing the vulnerability of the nations to face high incidences of drought and water scarcity challenges. Secondly, climate change is intertwined with the scarcity of water, an aspect that has caused a significant threat to the supply of water resources worldwide. In particular, high rates of deforestation manifested by human activities of cutting down trees uncontrollably have yielded negative impacts on the environment and subsequent impacts on human nature through the vicious effect cycle. The study of the anthropologist aspect of the population including their behaviors is quite essential in developing both short-term and long-term measures of restraining development in the human society across the globe. The in-depth understanding of challenges created by climate change and the drafting of essential mechanisms and mitigation procedures demand a wide range of natural and social science analysis. The study of anthropology is characterized by integrated fieldwork methodology and high-level engagement with society-environmental relationships with a broad perception of society. The voice yielded from the study of anthropology on climate change debates has therefore been relatively low today but remains a potential contributor to an enhanced approach to mitigating threats posed by climate change to society. Anthropology is critical to influencing the understanding of modern aspects of climate change which has had a diverse influence on society’s behavior and overall individual lifestyles. Although there is uncertainty concerned with the outcomes of the models of predicting climate change, the simulations made by applying varied assumptions have resulted in consensus on various qualitative features of the consequences of the impact on climate change on global water resources. For example, there is nearly an agreement that the aspect precipitation will end up being more variable and also will lead to the creation of amplified differences in the runoff and stream flow. This is also the increase in the frequency of harsh events such as floods and droughts. For this reason, anthropologists should come up with water planning strategies in the future that will pay attention to the harsh events and also the management of runoff and stream flow that is likely to be variable with time. Thirdly, anthropological studies have also immensely influenced the medical performance of society and therefore the public health sector in general. In particular, socio-cultural anthropology has been going through significant pragmatic and theoretical changes in the past half-century. As a discipline, it has been credited with both historical and current impacts on society’s health. During the colonial period, the anthropologists had been traveling alongside the colonial personnel an aspect that led to the development of immense trust of individuals on the anthropologists through their lingual competencies and cultural awareness that assisted the colonial states in executing their policies leading to further oppression of the ordinary citizens. Besides, anthropologists have been characterized by a high interest in medical practices from history to the present. Nonetheless, medical anthropology has been relatively new in the field. The field of medical anthropology is attributed to William Caudill from 1953 through his perspective of ‘Applied Anthropology in Medicine’. Medical anthropology has been critical to understanding the society’s perspective of health and subject to changes in social compositions of the society. Medical anthropology was deeply entrenched in the understanding of the society’s medical beliefs and practices which could be essential for the provision of essential biomedical services to the people especially in regions where biomedicine had not developed effectively. According to different studies, anthropologists have been working progressively since the 1940s to assist healthcare providers in understanding cultural disparities in the health behaviors of people. There has been a critical emphasis on medical anthropology which has created a new model known as the Explanatory Model Framework as well as Clinically Applied Anthropology among others. Indeed, the study perspective taken by the anthropologists has been focusing mainly on the doctor-patient interactions which is critical to understanding human health and solutions to different crises in the sector. This study has also been prescribed to make a critical impact on the biomedicine development portfolio. This therefore implies that anthropological studies have been essential to the development of public health policies over time. Finally, anthropology also studies the causes, and effects and provides possible solutions to the problem of overpopulation in society. This situation is technically characterized by excess of human species in an environment thus, exceeding the natural carrying capacity of the environment. Overpopulation has been associated with numerous effects such as overstretched resources which is detrimental to maintaining a constant flow of resources to the human population. For instance, as mentioned earlier, water scarcity has been one of the effects of overpopulation in most habitats or regions globally. When the population increases inversely to the supply of resources, this implies a prospective shortage in supplies in the future, an aspect that results in differential supplies to a wider population outlay. Anthropology does not only shed light on the spread of population but also the concentration against the supply of natural resources which in turn influences the sustained use of such resources in the long run. In this regard, anthropological studies provide certain provisions of the society that are responsible for the exponential growth of the population and also develop insights to contain the growth in the long run. This aspect of the field plays an important role in improving societal living standards both in the short run and in the long run. Besides, Anthropologists can help educate the population of society on how to take steps to reduce water use and save as much water as possible. That’s a conscious decision and it starts with each of us.
